AJANTHA DUMINDA JAYASURIYA
Sculptures and 3D organic artwork
—————————–——————————————————————————————
With roots in Sri Lanka and wings, which have carried him throughout the world, DuminDa‘s art is an expression of his formative life in Sri Lanka, his spiritual training, as well as his appreciation of Beauty in all its manifestation, which exists everywhere.
Employing devotion and clear intention, DuminDa’s work evokes the delicate balance between dreams and realities, swinging back and forth from figurative to more free-style representations.
A nature lover, he experimented organic painting and patina, using tea, berries, herbs and plants, the very same technique used some 1600 years ago to create the magic of frescoes in Sigiriya, one of the most awe-inspiring sites of his beloved Sri Lanka.
In making sculptures, DuminDa enjoys working with terra-cotta, resins, news-paper and with self-hardening natural clay.
Enthusiastic and determined, DuminDa studied several years with Professor Philippe Seené in Paris, after having attended courses at the Trier Academy and Beaux-Arts.
